What the QuintoAndar interview is like
QuintoAndar, the Brazilian real estate platform, is one of the few companies in the region that publishes its hiring process in detail: stages, approximate length, technical interview guides and even which uses of AI are allowed. For engineering, the core of the process is two live things: code and architecture cases.
- Stages (Senior SWE post)
- Recruiters, coding interview, live architecture cases, offer
- Length
- About 30 days (official page); 40 on average in the senior post
- Language
- Fluent Portuguese and advanced English; code is written in English
- Live coding
- In an online IDE; candidates report Codility
- AI
- Allowed to prepare; not to replace your reasoning live
- Work model
- Remote-first: from anywhere in Brazil
What QuintoAndar does and who it hires
QuintoAndar describes itself as the largest real estate ecosystem in Latin America, with a technology hub in Portugal and a valuation of more than USD 5.1 billion. Its technology page mentions 830 people in Product and Technology.
The technology team is remote-first: people work from home and can live anywhere in Brazil, with optional use of offices or coworking spaces.
The stages, in order
The official process page lists six stages, taking about 30 days, and notes that they can change order or be skipped in some cases: application and screening, online test (a challenge with a deadline that you may present later), recruiter, area leadership, stakeholder (someone outside the team) and offer. For engineering, the 2026 posts spell it out:
- Senior Software Engineer (40 days on average): application, interview with recruiters, tech screening with the engineering team (coding interview), technical interviews with live architecture cases, and offer.
- Staff Software Engineer: application, technical CV screening, People interview with recruiters, tech screening with a live code case, technical interviews (architecture cases and tech leadership), and offer.
- Affirmative-action openings keep the same stages and evaluation methods.
What each stage tests
The official technical interview guide sums it up: they want to understand how you think, solve problems and collaborate. They value clarity and well-structured reasoning, not just reaching the right answer.
- Recruiter: background and culture fit. A 2026 candidate reports that this call also checked their English level.
- Coding interview: algorithms and data structures in an online IDE. That candidate reports LeetCode-style live coding on Codility; another 2026 candidate describes a more relaxed round focused on object orientation and the language.
- Architecture cases: live system design. The 2026 candidate reports two system design rounds.
- Tech leadership (staff) and stakeholder: how you influence and how you work with people outside your team.
Typical technical topics
QuintoAndar publishes guides by role (Data Engineer, Machine Learning, Data Scientist). The Data Engineer guide shows the format: three rounds of about an hour each.
- Live modelling and SQL: aggregations and window functions.
- Coding: algorithms and data structures in Python, in an online IDE.
- System design: data pipelines with bronze, silver and gold layers, drawn in FigJam.
- For software engineering: live code with complexity (Big-O) and architecture cases, per the posts.
Can you use AI in the process?
QuintoAndar has an official AI guide for candidates. You may use it to prepare and polish your CV. In a take-home challenge it can support you, but you must master and be able to explain all of it. In live technical, case and behavioural interviews, AI replacing your reasoning is not allowed.
Which language the interview is in
The Senior Software Engineer post asks for fluent Portuguese and advanced English, and explains that the team usually writes code, documentation and tools in English. The Staff post says excellent spoken and written English is mandatory. QuintoAndar does not publish the language of each interview; candidates describe a process in Portuguese with a check of your English in the recruiter call.
Tips
- Learn the values before the first call: Delight customers, Aim high, Winning team, Dive deep, Make it happen, Make it great, Enjoy the ride and Do what is right. A QuintoAndar tech recruiter recommends this on the process page.
- Prepare project examples with results and lessons learned.
- Practise with the Codility sample test and HackerRank, and learn the online IDE's features before the day (official guide).
- In system design, start simple and then iterate (official guide).
- Find a quiet place and a good connection, and bring questions: the official page calls the process a two-way street.
